This research employs a robust methodology to analyze the public discourse on Generative AI. It involved collecting 5,499 microblog posts from Sina Weibo, spanning April 2022 to March 2024. A multi-stage preprocessing pipeline, including Chinese word segmentation with Jieba and custom dictionaries, was used to clean the data. Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) was then applied, with optimal topic numbers determined by Perplexity and Topic Coherence Scores. Finally, a unique Topic Heat Evaluation Index, combining Topic Strength and User Participation, was developed to track thematic prominence over time.
The study reveals a distinct four-stage evolutionary trajectory of public opinion on Generative AI:
